About Key Savings & Credit Union
In the Community
Key Savings has been known for its participation in the community it serves. As Hydro Savings and Credit Union, that community was the employees and retirees of TransAlta. Now, we are pleased to extend our commitment to the Victoria Crossing/Beltline neighbourhoods and the business community of Calgary.
In 2005, Key Savings broke new ground by joining Kids Up Front Foundation and Corus Entertainment for a fresh marketing concept that combined corporate advertising with community investment. It began with Kids Up Front’s ‘Can’t Use Your Ticket’ radio public service announcements (PSA’s) to increase awareness of the Kids Up Front cause. In order to simplify the ticket donation process, Key Savings became the ‘Official Ticket Drop Off’ for Kids Up Front and that message was added to the radio announcement. Since the broadcast of the PSA’s in September, 2005, ticket donations have more than doubled! For 2006, Key Savings personnel will be gifting their time to Kids Up Front during its annual fundraising event The Ticket at the Devonian Gardens on February 23rd and at a Winter Olympic Event for the kids at Canada Olympic Park (COP) on February 18th.
Being tenants in the Kahanoff Centre, a major supporter in Calgary’s not-for-profit sector, Key Savings has partnered with the Kahanoff Centre to play a larger role in the Victoria Crossing community. In addition to being home to charity organizations, the Centre provides a place where not-for-profit organizations can exchange ideas, knowledge, experience, interact, and collaborate in a barrier free, affordable, stable, and smoke-free environment. To promote awareness of Calgary charities, the Kahanoff Centre will build a float to be used in the 2006 and 2007 Calgary Stampede Parades. Key Savings will be a corporate sponsor of the float and other sponsorship activities to support the Kahanoff Centre including Victoria Crossing’s annual Mosaic Community Cultural Festival, the 4th Street BRZ’s annual Lilac Street Festival, and the Kahanoff Centre’s Annual Stampede Party.
As a member of the Victoria Crossing Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ), Key Savings has been a sponsor of their Mosaic Community Cultural Festival. The objective of this community annual event is to showcase community, diversity, ethnicity, and the variety of Calgarians who work and live in the area through local, emerging talent. Join us in June during Mosaic 2006.
‘Providing financial solutions for our members’ peace of mind’ goes beyond servicing our existing members. In 2005, Key Savings expanded its financial mentorship to the business community through a series of lunch-and-learn seminars coordinated through the human resources departments of larger Calgarian corporations. Knowledge and credibility are key to ensuring Key Savings becomes prominent in the minds of financially savvy people who are looking for an alternative to the larger financial institutions who have focused on profits before people.
Key Savings has promoted that ‘People are Key’ and that philosophy extends to our commitment in the communities we live and work in…Calgary.
