Key Savings Supports the Community

Key Savings + Credit Union was the exclusive sponsor for The Kahanoff Centre’s non-profit business float in the 2007 Stampede Parade which attracted over 350,000 spectators.

This year a total of 17 non profit organizations and 41 volunteers participated in the parade on behalf of the Kahanoff Centre. The float captured the design and structural likeness of the Centre which is home to 22 non profit organizations.

Key Savings cares for and supports the community it serves and takes an active role in community activities, donations, sponsorships, and volunteer opportunities. Key Savings is proud to support The Kahanoff Centre within the Victoria Crossing and Beltline communities.

International Leaders visit Key Savings

Key Savings hosted a special event and reception on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 for international credit union leaders from around the world for a private tour of the branch followed by a presentation of Key’s history and growth through it’s 57 years of business.

The delegates from over 40 countries were in Calgary for the World Credit Union Conference July 29-August 1 which focuses on current industry trends, innovations and ideas that participants can take back and integrate into their local credit unions.

Boutique Banking Comes to the Beltline

Calgary, June 29, 2007 - Key Savings and Credit Union Ltd. celebrated the opening of their new branch on the corner of 8th Street and 12th Avenue SW, on Wednesday, June 27th.

The opening celebration included refreshments, Crave cupcakes, giveaways, and door prizes for the members throughout the day. The individuals involved in the ribbon cutting ceremony held at 3:30 p.m. were symbolic of the past, present and future. Read more...

Key Saving’s Sponsors Mosaic – Your Community Cultural Festival

Key Savings + Credit Union was a corporate sponsor of the 2007 Mosaic Cultural Festival, a celebration of the unique ethical atmosphere within the Beltline and Victoria Crossing community held in historical Central Memorial Park on June 2, 2007.

It was Mosaic’s most successful year yet!! The weather was perfect, with plenty of sunshine throughout the day and temperatures in the mid-twenties. Over 5000 people were at the event; an increase over last year’s attendance of 4,000.

This years’ festival featured multicultural music and dance groups performing throughout the day, over fifty different vendors and exhibitors, a new beer garden, a craft centre where guests could learn to make a cultural craft, ethnic food vendors, and free activities for children. The event ended with headlining bands, Trinidad & Tobago Organettes.

Key Savings is proud to sponsor the Mosaic Cultural Festival and Victoria Crossing BRZ, and their involvement with a redevelopment proposal to restore Central Memorial Park to it’s original glory. Next year’s Mosaic Cultural Festival is Saturday June 7, 2008.

Kids Count Sports Day– April 21, 2007

Forty children from Kids Up Front and chaperones attended Sports Day 2007 at Cardel Place on Saturday, April 21, 2007. The event, cosponsored by Key Savings and Credit Union, began with soccer and basketball followed by an afternoon of swimming. Derek Armstrong and Tyler Lynem of the Calgary Stampeders greeted the Kids on-site for an autograph session and later joined the last game of soccer where the Kids Up Front team won 2-0. Tom’s House of Pizza donated lunch and all of the kids received a goodie bag courtesy of Key Savings and Credit Union. Key Savings thanks it’s co-sponsors – Cardel Homes, Tom’s House of Pizza, and Corus Entertainment for their support and Key Savings staff for volunteering their time for children in our community.

Key Savings Supports 1st Annual GIVER! For Charity

On Thursday, July 6th, The Kahanoff Centre presented GIVER! for Charity, a Stampede Street Party celebrating the Victoria Crossing neighbourhood while embracing the spirit of "giving" in this Charitable Community.

Key Savings staff participated in the first annual GIVER! For Charity Stampede event which sold 560 tickets. The CEO & Executive Assistant were part of the 30 volunteers who served lunch and beverages and assisted with ticket sales and merchandise. Great weather, good food and fine entertainment made for a successful event.

The event was held on Volunteer Way (Centre Street) between 12 & 13 Ave, which featured live performances by Big Mike Callan with Special Guest Lori Kole and The Chinook Country Line Dancers.

Key Savings + Credit Union proudly promotes GIVER! for Charity, the Kahanoff Centre, and Victoria Crossing neighbourhood and looks forward to next year’s GIVER! event.

Helping Our Partners Help The Community – July 2006

Key Savings partnership with Kids Up Front was the conduit chosen by the Kahanoff Centre to give a little back to the community.

The Kahanoff Centre generously donated 2 event tickets to the hard to come by Phantom of the Opera performance to Kids Up Front who in turn were able to provide an opportunity to a child usually not able to attend such an event.

Key Savings is the official ticket drop off for Kids Up Front. If you can't use your tickets, please call the branch at 232-4500 to donate.

Kids Up Front will accept any child-friendly ticket and turn it around very quickly to a child who could really benefit from the experience. It's so simple and provides an easy way to give back to the community.

The Kahanoff Centre is home to 20 charity organizations and provides a place where not-for-profit organizations can exchange ideas, knowledge, experience, interact, and collaborate in a barrier free, affordable, stable, and smoke-free environment.

It's Stampede Time!!! Key Savings Sponsors Float

Key Savings + Credit Union is the exclusive sponsor for The Kahanoff Centre’s non-profit business float for the 2006/2007 Stampede Parade. The float will be used to promote awareness of Calgary’s charitable organizations.

Key Saving’s + Credit Union’s support will increase awareness of our active role as proud supporters within the Victoria Crossing community as well as supporters of the Kahanoff Centre’s 20 non profit tenant organizations.  This year a total of 22 volunteers and 10 organizations are participating.  

An estimated 300,000 spectators are expected to attend the Stampede Parade July 7 at 8:55am. The parade begins at 6th Ave. and 3rd St. SE and travels west to 10th St. SW. The parade then travels south to 9th Ave., then East to 4th St. SE.

Take part in an annual tradition and attend this year’s Parade -- See you there!!
